Charter and Long distend skipper

Charter and long-distance skipper course in the Caribbean is for you + possibly companion who wants to go sailing in the tropics.

It could be, for example, after completing a proficiency course or being curious about renting a boat abroad, or a taste of long-distance sailing life, for example in the Caribbean.

Combine a holiday with an educational course that can be taken anywhere in the world.

The course gives you a thorough review of all the practical things to think about when renting a boat abroad and with the 14 years of long-distance sailing experience we have with our own ship, we will be able to give you a good insight into being a long-distance sailor.

There are no competence requirements for the participants on the course, but if you already have a “Duelighedsbevis” sailing certificate, we will of course make use of our knowledge from the “Duelighedsbevis” course, such as review of the ship, sail planning and everything that this entails, e.g. departure and check-in from and to a new country, passenger list and various papers.

After we have gone through the ship with various checklists, we need to have basic provisions for the first few days, after which we go to the Victory Bar & Restaurant and relax and enjoy the atmosphere in the harbor before departure the next morning.

We will be in 6-8 different anchor bays, each with their own unique Caribbean feel, which you can only see when arriving on your own keel, and this also provides ample opportunity to practice setting a proper anchor that you can be pressed against for the night.

The accommodation on board consists of double berths on a catamaran with room for 8-10 people incl. skipper, so if you come alone you must prepare to share a cabin with someone else.

We mainly provision for breakfast and a light lunch that we make together on board. We will eat dinner ashore, but I wonder if we won’t cook some freshly caught fish on the grill on board if anyone wants to 🙂

The sailings will primarily be day sailings, which may include a single night passage if necessary.

We will sail out and back from Grenada, which has good flight connections from London, and if you want a few days ashore before and after, there are plenty of options for that.

Upon registration, the first installment is paid as stated in the registration. The invoice with the second installment will be sent by email when there are at least 4 people registered for the trip and the trip in then verified. The third and final installment will be sent 3 months before departure.

What is not included.

Transport (flight/transfer) to and from the ship, catering – expect about DKK 1500 for provisions on board, checking in and out is about dkk 500,- It is mandatory to have travel insurance.

We have sailed in the Caribbean for many years and know almost every corner of the area we will be sailing in, including where it is best to anchor, what can be experienced on land and at sea and where it is good to eat.

We will come up with a presentation of what a trip might look like so that we get around and see as much as possible, i.e. that we sail a little every day, but it may be that the crew wants to stay an extra day here or there and it is also possible, there must be room for spontaneity, that is a big part of sailing.
